ltr frm Robbie…

What follows is an email Robbie forwarded to me after sending it to my girlfriend.  It made me cry.  He said he'd email her after I begged him to call her.  Anyway, here it is:

Hello [MS]

First of all I have to tell you that Robert is really hurting, I haven't seen him this bad in years.  He wants to fix whatever the problem may be.  Now, I'm not an expert on relationships (I've only had 2 long term ones myself which lasted 6 months, and the other 2 1/2 years), but I feel that when there is a problem, the two of you should talk it out, and arrive at some sort of compromise to keep the relationship together...No matter how hurt or disappointed or whatever each of you feel, you should communicate.  Being in loved[sic] or being loved by someone is something sacred that I wish I could honestly say that I have felt.  I know that there is some emotion that you can rebuild on if you feel you've lost the feeling.
I've known Robert almost half of my life, and I know that he would never hurt someone.   He is obviously devoted to you and would try to do anything to make your[sic] feel more comfortable, or just even more special.  From what you have mentioned to me, and from what Robert has said, it seems like men have not been a positive force in your life.  The stuff that you mentioned about your ex-boyfriends, and your Father makes it seem that all men are assholes and no matter how nice/kind/generous/whatever, they will eventually show their true colors and hurt you, but believe me Robert is the farthest away from that as humanly possible...he's nothing but a big pussycat.  It makes me wonder, could you possibly be distancing yourself away from him because you feel that he will become like those other men and eventually hurt you? (years later I found out that was one of the real reasons Aurora broke up with me.)  Please, have a serious talk with him to try and sort out your feelings and get back to where you once were.  Thank you for listening to me.  I do like you and I like seeing the two of you as a couple and hanging out with you two.
Love,
Robbie
